Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: Differently is a clothing company Hibiscus Creative founder Jennae Petersen started with her husband. The company offers t-shirts with environmentally, socially, politically and personally conscious messages, all printed on organic or recycled cotton. The logo needed to be unique and identifiable, but simple and versatile enough to be endlessly adapted to t-shirt designs. The result is a logotype that clearly illustrates that Differently is not your average clothing company.

T-Shirt Designs

WHAT WE DID: Hibiscus is also responsible for all of Differently’s t-shirt designs.

Website Design

WHAT WE DID: The Differently website is much more loud and boastful than the logo. It has a dark, urban feel that pairs well with the sassy messages on the t-shirts. The home page features large detail images of several designs above the fold in a slide show, with thumbnails of more designs below the fold. Although the company sells its shirts via Skreened.com, the website is designed to be the first stop in the buying process.

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: Stiletto Media is a social marketing company that works with brands to engage with bloggers in a variety of ways, from blog campaigns to events. With a sassy leader at its helm the logo needed to exhibit sophistication without being too upscale. We created a custom stiletto shoe icon paired with an RSS icon and a friendly upright script for an overall look that is instantly recognizable.

Website Design

WHAT WE DID: The Stiletto Media website features a blog as the front page, which makes sense, given that the company was developed by and for bloggers. It includes a content slider that allows the client to put major stories and events front and center. We also developed a private forum using Simple:Press and custom icons and badges to go with it.

Website Design

WHAT WE DID: Meaganne McCandess is a makeup artist and hair stylist with a colorful, unique personality. It only makes sense that her new website reflect that. She wanted a site that would act as a portfolio of her past work and help her capture leads. The new site does all this with a bunch of fancy window dressing that completely relfects who Meaganne is an artist.

WHAT WE DID: Burning Lamp is an independent publishing company that works primarily with Christian authors. They came to Hibiscus with a vibrant logo and needed a clean, dynamic website to go with it. We created a custom home page that would put Burning Lamp’s books and strongly religious philosophy front and center, with room for their latest blog posts at the bottom.

Custom social icons that remain in place as a visitor scrolls down.

Custom author page layout to display books and bio.

Facebook Page Design

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: The client planned to start a magazine-style website focused primarily on fashion and entertainment. We created a brand mark based on the “red carpet” name that is bold and contemporary enough to work at the top of a website like this.

Magazine-Style Blog Design

WHAT WE DID: The client wanted a custom home page that allowed her to show the latest posts from a variety of categories rather than a typical blog front page with the latest posts. We achieved this by using a Thesis child theme with multiple widget areas that we then customized deeply to match her branding.

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: The client was a new blogger who wanted to start off with a strong brand that she could keep for the long haul. Her brand name says it all, and we created a color palette and imagery that reflects value without being cheesy.

Blog Design

WHAT WE DID: There are thousands of blogs, forums and websites dedicated to couponing and frugality. Instead of building the site around oft-used illustrations, we instead turned the value branding established by the logo on its head by pairing it with regal imagery for a look that is rich and layered.

Custom social icons that play on the imagery in the logo.

Signature designed to be used at the end of each blog post.

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: The client is a life and business coach who helps her own clients find their most powerful and successful selves. Initially, “Blaze” was little more than a nickname her friends used. She wanted the name to be so much more, and looked to us for help turning it into a brand. We settled on the idea of a fireball, with typography that feels as alive and vivid as the icon.

A Brilliant Path

Website Design

WHAT WE DID: The website makes use of the fire-inspired color palette found in the logo, paired with subtle patterns and textures to complement it. The home page includes a bold call-to-action designed to engage visitors right away.

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: ThE client came to us with a clear idea of what she wanted her logo to be. Her site is all about reviving the tradition of Sunday dinner with family-friendly recipes and stories. She wanted a badge-style logo that demonstrated some of the kitsch of days past, while retaining a slightly modern edge and a homey, warm color scheme.

Business Card Design

Blog Design

WHAT WE DID: Given the mission of the site, the design also had to create a homey feeling among readers. This was achieved with typography, a warm, but neutral color scheme based on the logo and natural textures to compliment close-up food photography without competing.

We created a custom recipe index to make discovery a breeze for readers.

We created custom recipe styling to make them easy to differentiate.

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: New Gen Apps is exactly what it sounds like: A developer of mobile and desktop apps for the new generation on a variety of platforms, including iPhone and iPad, Android, Facebook and more. They needed an identity to match the vision they have for the company. We created a simple icon that features an “n” in negative space. However, when rotated to the left, the positive space (the gradient) is a “G.”

Front-End Website Design for Thesis

WHAT WE DID: Similarly, New Gen wanted a new look for their website to match the standard set forth by the new logo. The site design is bold and forward-thinking, making use of rotating elements on several pages to maximize space. We created the front-end design, then turned it over to the client for development.

Each page features a different background color, all pulled from the color spectrum used in the logo..

We designed a custom content slider for the services page to keep the space uncluttered.

Logo Design

WHAT WE DID: Skimbaco is a brand developed by Katja Presnal, a dynamic web publisher and social media maven whom I also count as a great friend. Her brand is built on the idea of “living life to the fullest.” The brand is parent to four blogs: Skimbaco Lifestyle, Skimbaco Home, Skimbaco Travel and Skimbaco Food. The logos have a very clean, Scandinavian-inspired style, paying homage to Katja’s origins in Finland. This style is easily translated to all the Skimbaco web properties, which are then identified by color.

Blog Network Design

Each website in the network featured a unique color palette

Another blog in the network

WHAT WE DID: The blogs in the network maintain the clean look set forth by the logos, and they are identical in layout and style. However, each site features a unique background pattern and color scheme to differentiate it from it’s sister sites. Each site is built on the Thesis theme/framework for WordPress.
